So what I have started to do is take a week off from training about once every month or month and half. Ive always thought this was beneficial since it allows your muscles to rest and rejuvinate. I have noticed more streangth when i get gack in the gym, however my friend said that "its all mental" and that there isnt any real benefit. I'm just wondering what others opinion on this is?

taking a short break is always beneficial. i take one every 8 or so weeks. it just gives your body a chance to recharge and refresh. not to mention, it helps your mentality and you are amp'd to get back to the gym.

This will only do more good than harm. Its always good to give your muscles time to recover. I know some guys that take a week off every 8 weeks. Its good to shock your body and give it a nice rest once in awhile. So i say go for it!!

I would say take a break 8-12 weeks (give a take a few weeks) Its all about preference. Like stated above it gives your body well needed rest. You will be going crazy after the week to go back to the gym you'll go crazy when you get in there and set a few nice PRs! I'm not sure on eating, should you eat the same when taking a break? Can someone clarify on this please. (reps will be given)
